Earlier this year, Lumen Dynamics introduced its OmniCure© LC280 UV LED linear curing solution for wide area curing in a number of industrial applications. Designed with a unique combination of high power UV output and low temperature curing, the LC280 enables manufacturers to achieve outstanding throughput performance and increased product yields. The LC280 generates low heat during the curing process accommodating a wider range of substrates and materials to be cured without heat damage normally caused by traditional lamp-based solutions. Innovative air-cooled UV LED technology eliminates the need for external cooling and ozone venting while consuming less power than lamp-based systems to simplify integration into new or existing production line infrastructures. For even greater flexibility, manufacturers are able to adjoin multiple systems together to expand the addressable curing area. Sample applications that can benefit from this technology include industrial applications such as display assembly, electronics components, speaker assembly, lens bonding and film lamination; also medical applications such as syringes, filters and insulin pens.

Recognized for innovation on the basis of importance and usefulness to the microscopy community, the Internal Pulse Generator provides researchers with precise time control and pulsing of each LED for advanced biological imaging applications.

Offered exclusively in the X-Cite® XLED1, the Internal Pulse Generator provides fast, timed wavelength switching between LEDs beyond the scope of motorized filter wheels into unprecedented microsecond speeds. Researchers can now capture a level of fast cell dynamics in multi-color live cell experiments that was previously limited by existing technologies. The ability to pulse each LED at microsecond speeds is also believed to extend the life of cells by reducing the effects of photobleaching and cellular damage caused by continuous illumination of light.

With the Internal Pulse Generator, the X-Cite® XLED1 can serve not only as a premium light source, but as a central triggering device, synchronizing peripherals such as cameras and stages with LED on/off events. With the selection of an appropriate filter set, researchers can upgrade the functionality and control of their microscope by eliminating the need for additional automation equipment, thereby saving thousands of dollars as well as extra time that would be required for integration into their imaging system.

This agreement will expand the accessibility of customers in the UV printing, coatings and adhesive markets to advance ultra-violet light-emitting diode (UV LED) technology and help to promote the adoption of UV LEDs.

Under the patents, users are able to control individual segments of a UV LED array to optimize performance, managing the power intensity across the array to optimize cure efficiency, and improve array servicability. The Lumen patent allows for optimization of performance and specifically addresses managing the varying power intensity across the array to optimise cure efficiency.

LDGI is committed to providing customer solutions through the innovative application of light within the life sciences, medical devices, optoelectronics and graphics digital printing markets. A pioneer in light technology, LDGI enhances the ability to control LEDs to achieve high output power, manage the operating temperature of LEDs and maintain the output of LEDs over their lifetime. Lumen Dynamics wraps up another successful show at the MD&M West show held on February 14th to 16th in Anahiem, CA.
