History

Founded in 1984, Lumen Dynamics quickly became a leader in light-based technologies providing leading edge solutions to a global customer base. The company focused on serving dentists with leading edge dental curing solutions to bond composite dental fillings. Over the next 12 years, the company grew this business by supplying industry leading products to companies like 3M® and Dentsply® International; this business was sold in 1997. During this time, Lumen Dynamics innovated and created new, but similar technology and became the leader in UV assembly manufacturing for medical devices.

Instead of light curing composites for dentistry, the company now offered light-based delivery systems used for curing photo reactive adhesives that bond different materials together. In 1998, Lumen Dynamics took the very same approach to inventing new light delivery solutions into the fiber optic telecom component manufacturing market. The company became the leader in that market in three years.

By 2003, the company’s history for innovation was repeated - with the creation of a new light system for delivering light through high-tech fluorescence microscopes used for life science cellular imaging. Once again in three short years, Lumen Dynamics became the leader in this space due to its commitment to understanding the needs of its customers for solving their complex issues. In 2008, the company continued to apply its expertise and innovated new light-based delivery solutions for the digital printing market where inks are dried instantly to create high resolution images at a much lower cost.
